Brothers and sisters, for about 9 years now I have operated this ministry without asking for nor receiving any donations. This website costs me about a couple of hundred dollars a year to run. All this time I have been paying for all the costs out of my own pocket. I’ve been doing this primarily so the critics of this website (i.e., occultists of various persuasions) can’t say I am doing this for the money. However, I have decided that it is time to allow my brothers and sisters to give free will offerings for several reasons, One, a few of the emails I receive from critics indicate they didn’t bother to read past one page anyway, so chances are they didn’t read the part about not asking for donations. And as one online friend who’s also an ex-occultist turned Christian pointed out to me, some occultists are so prejudiced against Christians, they probably don’t believe I didn’t take donations anyway. There’s no point in continuing to try to impress people who don't bother to check the facts and refuse to listen anyway no matter what. It’s limiting this ministry for nothing. Two, it allows you as a follower of Christ to participate in this ministry and receive the blessings it brings. The Lord said “it is better to give than to receive”. I’ve come to realize by not accepting donations, I’m also depriving you of being part of this ministry. Three, the economy has affected me just as it has the rest of you. I’m a bi-vocational minister, obviously, but I’ve been out of work for quite a while now. My wife is able to support our family, and I thank God for that. There are times it has been a struggle to keep this ministry on the Internet. By allowing Christians to help, it will ease the burden. Four, I am sick and tired of fake ex-occultists and phony televangelists getting rich while I barely scrape by to keep this website online. Another big reason I was afraid to take donations was because people would lump me in with those hucksters who tell people to send them money and God would send them a Cadillac...or worse, they'll figure I’m no different than Mike Warnke or Bill Schnobellen and am just making all this up to make money. Well, I’m not one of those people, and charlatans will have to answer to God someday for what they have done. SO PLEASE- - IF YOU ARE ABLE - - WON’T YOU HELP THIS MINISTRY TO CONTINUE? OK, now I’m going to talk like a preacher for a second. If this ministry goes off the Internet, it WILL be a huge victory for Lucifer! This is one of a handful of ministries, (and I mean LITERALLY a handful, maybe four or five) on the Internet that actually tell the facts about the occult without putting in urban legends about “Satanic Ritual Abuse” or nonsense that Obama is the anti-Christ. Because of this, I’ve actually been able to REALLY reach out to Satanists, Wiccans, Voodooists, Santerios, followers of Aleister Crowley, Odinists, as well as people who felt they were under demonic attack, hexes, or curses and even people with mental problems, and give them the help they needed. It’s also reached out to non-occultists, such as Christians who were confused, and even members of the Jewish faith. Thank God I’ve been able to obey the primary command of our savior to share the Gospel with the Jews! This ministry has even helped prevent suicides, because it was able to get them the help they needed. It's helped people, like a little deaf girl who was curious about Wicca. Instead, I steered her away and even found her a church near her that had a ministry for the deaf! Praise God! Yes, this ministry has lead occultists out of darkness to Christ. And it’s probably prevented 10 times as many from ever going into the occult in the first place. Recently I read where someone had posted online that occultists wind up worse off in life, and I know he had gotten his information from this ministry. There are people citing this website for reference to articles on Wikipedia. Uncommon Sense Ministries IS making a difference! While some people think I probably enjoy arguing about religion, or trying to prove I'm right, this isn't the case. In fact the opposite is true. That’s why I need you to continue to help me in this fight. Remember me and my family in your prayers. We face attacks both spiritual and physical. I've lost friendships over my stance on some issues. I’ve been threatened so many times through emails until I finally stopped accepting emails. Satanists and Wiccans have even threatened to hack the website and take it down. Someone has even been calling people that know me and asking them questions about me and this ministry. I know someday I could face physical harm or even death for what I do, but I will not be silenced! I’m only saying all this because it’s true. I’m not asking you to feel sorry for me, and I’m not trying to butter you up for a big donation. I am asking for your help. Won’t you please give whatever you are able to? You can’t begin to imagine how much a gift of $5, $10, or $20 a month would do for this ministry. I feel God is ready for me to take this ministry to new levels. In the future I hope to be able to afford advertising, and to increase security. I hope someday we can even have a monthly or weekly podcast.
